Presentation

Savour the joys of an ocean holiday with the Airotel 4-star campsite Les Embruns d'Oléron, surrounded by coasts, beaches, oyster huts and wild countryside.

Holidays in a gypsy caravan

Treat yourself to a holiday near the Atlantic Ocean, in a tree-filled park by a lake. Explore Charente Maritime from your chalet or upmarket mobile home. Fisherman's cabins and gypsy caravans are available for hire for a more unusual holiday. You can also rent pitches, residential caravans, lovely apartments and bungalows.

Energising activities

The campsite in Oléron has a riding centre where you can receive an introduction to horse-riding, for outings and treks along the beach. Other activities await you on the cycle tourism circuits and multi-sports courts.
The children's club has activities for little ones all week long. In the evening, the family can get together and enjoy fun activities and theme nights. Concerts, karaoke, clown nights and swimming pools provide lots of entertainment on the bar terrace.
The bathing area has a heated pool, fun paddling pool and children's pool. Deckchairs are available all around the outdoor pool, where aquagym and water polo lessons take place. To round it all off, there's also a little water fun park which children will love.

Discover the world of Father Fouras

From one of the most beautiful campsites in France, you can explore Fort Boyard (the location for the popular TV show, where riddles are set by old Father Fouras), the Zoo de la Palmyre and the Aquarium de La Rochelle. Take a walk in the marshes and on the beaches, and learn all about the oyster farming tradition on Oléron Island.

Discover the Region

The campsite Les Embruns d’Oléron in Château d’Oléron in the Poitou-Charentes region is at the heart of major tourist centre.

Château d’Oléron is the second biggest town on the island in terms of population. This  oyster-farming capital has multiple facets and a great wealth of heritage and history to explore. The Château d’Oléron citadel is a site not to be missed on the island. The oyster-farming port is a great place for a relaxing walk. Many former cabins have now been restored and are today used as workshops where artists exhibit their work.

Oyster-farming cabins in Château d'Oléron

Among the villages, Ors is worth a visit for its channel and multi-coloured oyster-farming cabins. In La Chevalerie, as you stroll along the streets, you will see houses in the most surprising architectural styles. La Gaconnière, Petit and Grand Gibou and La Renisière are other villages that well deserve a visit.

Oléron also has beautiful sandy beaches bordered by pine forests. In Chassiron, in the north of the island, you can see limestone cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, while on the west coast, there are sandy beaches with a few rocks – ideal sites to look for shellfish.

Charming landscapes

On foot or by bike, you can enjoy a wide variety of landscapes on the island: large national forests, marshland areas for bird-watching, and agricultural land where wine grapes and cereals are grown.

Nature-lovers should head for Dolus (15 minutes from the Airotel). The Marais aux Oiseaux (Bird Marshes) attract a large number of visitors. There are also oyster-farming sites and the little port of La Baudissière, where the “sea farmers’” multi-coloured cabins provide the site’s typical charm.

Another town in the region not to be missed is La Rochelle. Only one hour from the campsite, it is a town rich in charm to discover. St Sauveur Church, the Tour de la Chaine, St Louis Cathedral, the Prée fort, the House of Henri II… are all well worth a visit.
