Bay of Arcachon

About sixty kilometres from Bordeaux, this inland sea of Gironde is connected to the Atlantic Ocean. The banks of the Arcachon basin are punctuated by cycle paths, thirty or so beaches, huts on stilts, extravagant villas, not forgetting Arcachon, nestled in a green setting. The mild climate favours the blossoming of oysters, to be tasted in typical huts. There is no shortage of the most beautiful campsites on the Arcachon basin, near Lège-Cap Ferret, La Teste-de-Buch, or the famous Dune du Pilat.
