- Practical information
Situated a few kilometres away from Bastia, the San Damiano campsite is tucked away in a pine forest with direct access to the beach and also brings you the magnificent setting of the Lido de Marana.
The San Damiano has 240 camping areas in total, spread out over more than 13 hectares. You have a choice of spacious touring pitches which are shady at any time of the day and an extensive range of rentals, mobile homes and chalets with one, two or three bedrooms to accommodate up to six people.
A water park just for lazing around… and the sea
Imagine a huge sundeck over 1,000 m², with two rectangular pools surrounded by wooden decking. The first one is 260 m² and offers you the choice of a gentle swim or doing a few laps if you’re so inclined. Little ones can have fun in the paddling pool which has a maximum depth of 40 cm.
If that’s not enough for you, just round the corner is direct access to the Lido de la Marana beach and its vast expanse of fine sand. The whole family can swim there in complete safety in shallow water which is 25° on average in summer.
One of the highlights… the entertainment
Every year, a dedicated team puts together a lavish programme of entertainment all day long for all ages. It starts in the morning with exercise, yoga, step or Zumba classes, followed by the Kids’ Club for the little ones and sports competitions organised for older children and adults. The facilities have been designed accordingly and include a huge children’s playground with slides, a swing, roundabouts and a mini adventure trail with a giant trampoline and a zip-line. There are also two special entertainment areas.
Worth mentioning is the huge children’s playground. There are also two special entertainment areas. The first, the Cocoon, has a giant screen showing broadcasts of major sports events (football, Tour de France, etc.). Theme nights and so on are also held in the Cocoon. A second area has been created very near the swimming pool. This is for welcome drinks and the many campsite events, such as concerts, a variety of shows and Corsican folk groups, to name but a few!
… and dining
Practically on the waterfront by the edge of the beach, the La Paillotte restaurant is a great place to eat. You can of course opt for the classic dishes on the menu, such as homemade pizza, salads and grilled meats. But you might want to take the opportunity to discover a cuisine featuring local produce, fish specialities and Corsican menus at extremely reasonable prices. It’s also a great place to finish a day of unwinding and relaxing, meeting up over one of the many cocktails on offer. It seems that if paradise exists, it may look like Corsica. So say the Corsicans… and they’re not alone. Make the most of your stay at the San Damiano campsite and head off to explore the island. Don’t feel like moving? No problem – simply go down to the beach which borders the campsite and you’ll see it in full view. On a clear day you can make out the islands of Elba, Capri and Montecristo. You can also cast your eyes on the magnificent bay of Bastia and the Mountains of Cap Corse.
Want to see more? No problem – the campsite has organised outings for you lasting from one hour up to a whole day and provides you with routes and all the details you need for your trip to go smoothly. Among the places on the programme are Bastia, the Cap Corse, Castagniccia, Biguglia Lake Nature Reserve, Restonica and Balagne.
