The most beautiful campsites in France /
Canal du Midi

Conceived in the 17th century by the engineer Pierre-Paul Riquet, this titanic construction site required long works to link Toulouse to the Mediterranean over 241 km. Today, the Canal du Midi is devoted to pleasure boating and walking or cycling on the towpath. Along its soothing course, it crosses Castelnaudary, Carcassonne, Béziers, Agde, Sète, with a link to Narbonne. Close to twenty of the most beautiful campsites, the Canal du Midi is marked by 368 engineering structures, often astonishing like the scale of the 8 locks of Fonseranes.
