Presentation

It’s no coincidence that Corsica is also called “the Isle of Beauty”. You only need spend your holidays in an unspoilt setting in the heart of Balagne, almost in the centre of Calvi, in an adorable little 4-star family campsite, Les Castors, to see that this is true.

The campsite has 80 camping areas spread over 2 hectares. As regards accommodation, you have a choice between camping spots with electricity and rentals which can accommodate up to 5 people. There is also a service area for camper vans available throughout the whole season.

Water, water everywhere

At Les Castors campsite, you’re never far away from water. You’ll actually have the choice of fresh water or salt water. In the first case, dive into the water park where you can go for a quiet swim, fool around on one of the water slides, let the little ones discover water in complete safety in the paddling pool or relax and unwind in the balneotherapy centre or on one of the deckchairs next to the pool. But if you fancy a breath of sea air, you’re less than 300 m from Calvi’s magnificent beach. The water there is very shallow and crystal clear. So it’s a great place to come for a swim with your family, even with young children.

A family campsite

‘Les Castors’ unashamedly plays the family campsite card with activities and entertainment, but not too much… just enough. There’s something for everyone, both young and old, whether it’s during the daytime or when evening comes, with concerts, disco evenings, etc. Activities include tennis, table tennis and pétanque - the traditional favourites. You can also go horseriding and rock-climbing. And why not treat yourself to your first go at scuba diving or further your skills in the Scandola Reserve, a genuine marine sanctuary and UNESCO World Heritage site.

Dining: set menu or à la carte

If you don’t feel like preparing meals and want to get together with your family over a drink, you have several options. As its name indicates, the ‘La Piscine' restaurant and bar by the pool is the place for treating yourself to a drink or an ice-cream between swims, or even a grilled dish or a quick meal. If you fancy a homemade pizza to take away and eat at your rental or your camping area, then pay a visit to ‘La Cabane à Pizzas’.  For a private dinner for two or to discover Corsica’s culinary heritage, the place to go is ‘L’Inter’, with its authentic surroundings and large fireplace.

Just walk through the gates…

If you’re keen to explore the surroundings of Les Castors, simply set foot outside the campsite. Just a few hundred metres away, you’ll find yourself in the very centre of one of the most beautiful towns in Corsica. Head off to explore the Citadel of Calvi. Lose yourself among its narrow streets, stop for a drink at one of its many terraces or visit one of its many small restaurants just waiting for you.

Discover the Region

If by chance you feel the urge to leave the campsite during your stay, the only risk you’ll run is being totally amazed. The campsite is practically in the very centre of Calvi. There you’ll find the citadel and its narrow streets, fantastic architecture and a whole host of treasures awaiting you. For example, for foodies, a daily trip to Calvi’s covered market, just behind Sainte-Marie-Majeure Church, will be the best way to fill your basket with traditional groceries, feast your eyes on the colours and smell the deliciously enticing aromas. A large number of farmers come there every morning to sell their produce, including fruit and vegetables, farmhouse cheeses, local cured meats.

Balagne – a blessed land

Calvi is located in a magnificent setting - Balagne. This region of Upper Corsica is lucky enough to be among the richest and most fertile lands in the Isle of Beauty, both through its numerous crops and through the influx of tourists who love its spectacular scenery. It’s the result of a combination of the Mediterranean and the mountains with peaks 2,000 m in altitude. This union has created beautiful places just waiting to be discovered, such as the Scandola Reserve, a diver’s paradise, or the villages perched at times on improbable summits, created around its crops which today give Balagne its authentic appearance brimming with cultural and gastronomic heritage and traditional know-how.
